Autumn Sign on Reclaimed Wood
Just finished this gorgeous autumn sign on reclaimed wood! Here's how it happened:
- Put the words together in Photoshop until I got the look I wanted.
- Printed and assembled the document in pieces.
- Colored on the back with charcoal.
- Traced over the words to "transfer" to the wood.
- Retraced them in pencil so they wouldn't just smudge away when I touched them.
- Filled in with paint in black, red, and orange (tried white, just didn't like it).
- Planning to seal this with Mod Podge and possibly add hinges and a knob to make it into a "door."
- Also planning to eat LOTS of chocolate because I starved myself in the MANY long hours it took to do all this. :) Although I DID watch two whole seasons of Fringe on Netflix... or listened to them anyway.
- Done.
- BONUS! When you flip this around, it makes the perfect background for a Christmas wreath! So, it can go up in September and stay up until January! :)

This is the "getting ready to trace" stage. Ah. Good times. |

Autumn Projects: Candy Jars, Wreath, Door
Here are a few of the autumn projects I've been working on: candy jars, a fall wreath and one of my "doors" that I just love! Enjoy!
Fun idea! Glass candy jars on top of your old candle holders. |
Autumn Wreath: Picked up an inexpensive vine wreath from Walmart's craft section. Added some subtle greenery and pine cones and a burlap & tulle bow. |
I REALLY love how my garden gate door turned out. The rusty hardware, corbels & wreath really make this piece beautiful! |

Etsy Update: Shabby Alabaster Autumn
Here are a few more items I added to my Etsy shop this week. They all look like they match, but it wasn't planned. Completely random. I really LOVE making old items new again! And I added a touch of autumn white to get myself into the fall decorating mood. Enjoy!

Family & Adventurer Wood SIGNS
Today I finally finished two excellent wood signs I've been working on for AGES! They are made from reclaimed pallet wood: sanded, stained, hand-painted and sealed with LOVE.
